A day of rest

Today I was on house duty with Mary. Her and I made sure the house was clean and the dishes were done. We also got to go shopping at the Nakumatt which is similar to a Walmart. We took Boda Bodas there, which are bicycles with seats on the back. It is one of the cheapest modes of transportation here in Kisumu. The prices are always higher for Mzungus, and the more Mzungus there are at one time the higher the price is.

It is so fun and exciting to go around see all different parts of the town. Just outside of the compound is various businesses. From the outside they look like the slums or broken down shacks, but the people here can be very innovative and do amazing things with what they have. I went with one of the local volunteers to make copies at a business near the compound today. From the outside it looks old and broken down, but on the inside it had a copy machine and about eight decent computers. It was a really nice business. It was so awesome to see how these Kenyans had created a successful business even from what we would deem unusable. God has provided for them is so many ways. I am being greatly blessed by their strength and intelligence.
